Survey of North American Growers
Reentry activities can be combined into groups of crop/activities that involve similar contact with crop foliage (and thus similar exposure and transfer coefficients). The ARTF conducted a Growers Survey to help identify which crop/activity combinations would have similar exposure. Growers and grower consultants were asked to estimate the relative amount of contact between crop foliage and various body parts of farm workers, in terms of frequency and degree of contact. The survey produced information on virtually every crop and activity in North America.
ARTF used the survey data to determine the crops and activities on which exposure studies would be most informative. The data were also used to categorize the various crops and activities within ARTF’s database, and are helping to refine regulatory risk assessments for member company products.
